Surprise Photos is Now Available
Surprise Photos is now on the App Store for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. It adds an animated effect to any still and saves the result as a real Live Photo.
Pick a photo, pick an effect, and Surprise Photos saves a Live Photo to your library. It looks like an ordinary picture until someone presses and holds it in Photos. Then the picture pixelates into place, shatters and snaps back together, or your friend's jaw starts flapping like a ventriloquist's dummy.
A few of the 33 effects:
- googly eyes, heart eyes, a red clown nose, or a bobblehead for every face in the photo
- face swaps that trade faces around a group shot
- glitches, a vortex, and comic-book halftone dots across the whole picture
- a Halloween set with floating ghosts, glowing eyes, pumpkin heads, vampire fangs, and a jump scare
- Spirit Photo, which hides a second picture that only shows up when you switch the Live Photo to Long Exposure
You can preview each effect as Live, Loop, Bounce, or Long Exposure before you save it. For friends who can't view Live Photos, share any effect as a regular video.
Surprise Photos never asks to see your photo library. You choose a photo with Apple's photo picker, and the app can only add the new Live Photo.
Three effects are always free, and a different premium effect is free every day. Surprise Photos Pro gets you all of them for $1.99 a month, $9.99 a year with a free week, or $19.99 once.
